The Spectre Mitigation Performance Impact On AMD Ryzen 5000 "Zen 3" Processors
In the Ethr network tests for example with Ryzen 5 5600X there is greater mitigation overhead, presumably due to the always-on STIBP that is currently happening with Zen 3.
So disabling mitigations on Zen 3 CPUs for now can yield extra uplift, but we'll see ahead if AMD intentionally has their microcode to enable always-on STIBP or if like Zen 2 they will end up changing that to conditional handling.
With the mitigated state, it's still the same "default" performance is still the same excellent generational uplift from Zen 2 to Zen 3 we've been seeing since launch day with always doing our CPU reviews at the default mitigation levels.
