For some video encoding apps like the open-source H.266 VVenC solution there wasn't any negative impact from using WSL2....

x265 benchmark with settings of Video Input: Bosphorus 1080p. Ubuntu 23.04 was the fastest.
x265 benchmark with settings of Video Input: Bosphorus 4K. Ubuntu 23.04 was the fastest.

But with x265 video encoding for example it performed much worse under WSL2 on this AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D desktop.
