We haven't seen any situations where using Windows 10 WSL is leading to better scaling than Linux.

Well, that's where things stand today with Windows 10 WSL running Ubuntu compared to native Linux distributions. The performance overall tends to still be in line with the results when running Linux bare metal on the same hardware, but the slow I/O performance is the big difference and there are also other select cases where WSL wasn't performing quite as good. But still it's an interesting environment for testing and makes for fun experiments with Ubuntu/Fedora/openSUSE now being accessible from the Windows Store. Those different Linux distributions compared on WSL are being compared for an upcoming article on Phoronix.
