Windows 10 May 2020 vs. Linux Performance On AMD Ryzen Threadripper
114 tests were successfully run on the five current Linux distributions up against the Windows 10 May 2020 update on the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X system. Those wanting to dig through all 114 results in full can find them via this OpenBenchmarking.org result file.
When it came to first place finishes, Intel's Clear Linux on Threadripper was in front with wins 48% of the time followed by openSUSE Tumbleweed securing first place victories 18% of the time and then in third was Windows 10 May 2020 Update at 11%.
But coming in last place most often was Windows 10 at 61% followed by Manjaro at 20%.
If taking the geometric mean of all 114 benchmark results, Windows 10 May 2020 on the Threadripper 3970X was running at 78% the speed of the fastest Linux distribution (Clear Linux) or 86% the speed of the slowest Linux distribution benchmarked (openSUSE Tumbleweed).
