Linux Still Yields Better Multi-Threaded Performance On AMD Threadripper Against Windows 10 May 2019 Update
The Geekbench single-core performance isn't too far behind Ubuntu Linux and in fact a 5% increase in performance with this new Windows 10 build. Ubuntu 19.04 still maintained though an 8% lead over Windows 10 1903. (There weren't Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS results for Geekbench due to a simple oversight.)
The Geekbench multi-threaded benchmark improved its score by 25% with the new Windows 10 update, but that is still well behind the Ubuntu 19.04 performance, similar to what we've been seeing since the Threadripper 2 launch with much better Linux performance.
The x264 multi-threaded video encoding benchmark improved slightly with the new Windows update but Linux still offered a nice performance advantage.
And with the multi-threaded imaging operations via OpenMP for the GraphicsMagick program, Ubuntu continued scaling better with Threadripper.
