With the C-Ray multi-threaded ray-tracer, Windows 10 came in second place right behind Clear Linux, which is aggressively tuned out-of-the-box by Intel open-source developers. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS performed much slower than the other Linux distributions here.

With the AOBench renderer test, interestingly enough Clear Linux and Windows were now at the back while Solus Linux and Antergos were competing for first.

The FFmpeg performance was nearly the same on five of the six tested operating systems. The exception here was Clear Linux delivering significantly faster performance for this basic video encode benchmark on the Core i9 CPU.

With the BLAKE2 program designed for "fast secure hashing", this crypto benchmark saw roughly the same performance across the tested operating systems... Windows 10 was right in the middle of the bunch while Ubuntu 16.04 LTS had a narrow lead while Fedora Workstation 27 was slightly slower.
