First up was Batman: Arkham Origins, a title that is interesting for being benchmark-friendly while on Linux running well under Steam Play with Proton and DXVK. This game's performance wasn't affected overall by the newer kernels except for noting the minimum frames per second being higher on Linux 4.20+ compared to 4.19. The RX Vega 64 performance though was coming in at roughly the same level as the GTX 1070.

Dota 2 with Vulkan is one of the games benefiting from the AMDGPU DRM on Linux 4.20+ although unchanged by Linux 4.21. The bump in performance is at least enough to make the RX Vega 64 run in line with the GTX 1070.

Dawn of War III with ultra quality settings at 1440p yielded a few frame rate bump with Linux 4.20+ that pushes it just in front of the GTX 1070 Ti.

Meanwhile with 4K medium quality settings the performance boost out of Linux 4.20 and newer was significant enough that the RX Vega 64 went from the same frame-rate as the GTX 1070 now to being faster than the GTX 1070 Ti.
