At encrypting a sample file using the Java-powered Bork File Encrypter, the best performance was actually found with Linux Mint 6. Linux Mint 6 was almost 15% faster. gOS 3.1 Gadgets, which is based upon Ubuntu 8.04, had scored slightly ahead of Ubuntu 8.10.

The compilation performance was very close between Ubuntu 8.10 and Linux Mint 6 with each using the Linux 2.6.27 kernel and the GCC 4.3 branch, but gOS 3.1 was slightly behind them with its older packages.

While gOS fell behind Linux Mint and Ubuntu at compilation, it exhibited the best performance with Dhrystone 2 through the BYTE Unix Benchmark.
