While C-Ray took longer with Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 1, this was not the case for the industry-standard POV-Ray. With Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 1, POV-Ray ran remarkably quicker compared to Ubuntu 9.04. In fact, it was about 32% quicker!

Dbench had also run much faster with Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 1. While both installations were using the default EXT3 file-system when they were occupying the entire disk, Dbench was running at 274MB/s compared to 104MB/s with Ubuntu 9.04.

Dbench was not the only disk test with better results using the development Karmic code, but IOzone when measuring the 4GB write performance was writing to the Seagate SATA 2.0 disk faster too. Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 1 wrote at 68MB/s compared to 47MB/s with Ubuntu 9.04.
