Oibaf Keeps Making Ubuntu GPU Driver Upgrades Easy
The Warsow performance is up slightly with the newer open-source GPU driver packages.
The Xonotic performance was lower for low quality settings, but with the higher-quality visuals the frame-rates rose when using the Mesa 10.1 Git packages found in the Oibaf Personal Package Archive.
For the GpuTest workloads the performance was either unchanged or in the case of Furmark it was a huge leap forward.
That's the quick Radeon overview if using the Oibaf PPA at this time on Ubuntu 13.10. It's really an easy way for trying out the very latest graphics driver packages with new snapshots appearing every few days. The only complaint I have about the archive is that for the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver it doesn't yet build against the latest LLVM 3.4 or SVN code for delivering the best experience with the very newest AMD graphics processors.
