Intel Haswell - Ubuntu 13.04 vs. Ubuntu 13.10

The current "out of the box" experience for the Ubuntu 13.10 development ISO is similar to that of Ubuntu 13.04 for Nexuiz. From the Core i7 4770K CPU with HD Graphics 4600, there are performance improvements in the Intel DRM driver found in the Linux 3.10 kernel. Ubuntu 13.10 will ship Linux 3.10, but not yet. Likewise, the best performance is also when paired with Mesa 9.2, but Ubuntu hasn't yet incorporated this new development code.

The performance story is the same for Reaction. If you were hoping for an awesome Haswell experience by simply doing a clean install of Ubuntu 13.10, that's not the case yet and for now it's more or less just like Ubuntu 13.04. Once Linux 3.10 and Mesa 9.2 are pulled into the Ubuntu archive in the coming months, the Haswell graphics performance will be much better but until then, you must manually build the packages or obtain them from third-party repositories.
