In some of the NAS Parallel Benchmarks provided by NASA, there are slight performance improvements with Ubuntu 12.10. The main factor to the NPB performance is the performance of the compiler with the generated binaries. With Ubuntu 12.10 there's GCC 4.7.2 while Ubuntu 12.04 LTS had GCC 4.6.

For some other tests, there wasn't much in the way of performance improvements or regressions. The Fortran-based MPI-focused FFTE computational test saw a mild boost out of the Intel Core i5 hardware on Ubuntu 12.10.
