Testing Out Btrfs In Ubuntu 10.10
With the 4GB writes in IOzone the performance between EXT4 and Btrfs were close when comparing default mount options, but once enabling the zlib Btrfs compression the write speed had nearly doubled.
When switching to the 4GB read testing with IOzone, again, the performance of Btrfs and EXT4 were close on this old ThinkPad R52 notebook but when enabling the Btrfs compression (a feature not available in EXT4) the read speed had increased by 4.35x.
The Dbench results when running one test client were close between Btrfs and EXT4.
