Ubuntu 6.06 To Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Performance Benchmarks: 10 Years Of Linux Performance
The Redis performance improved a lot with the newer Linux distributions.
The Apache web-server performance on the newer Ubuntu LTS releases is also moving in the right direction.
This round of testing was largely driven by curiosity sake in seeing how the Ubuntu Long-Term Support releases have evolved over the past decade. For the most part, running the same code-bases on the same hardware with a newer version of Ubuntu Linux is noticeably faster than the Ubuntu releases particularly from 6~10 years ago.
