Using the TUXEDO Aura 15 Gen2 the past month has been working out fairly well. The Ryzen 5 5500U is a nice mid-range processor. I've been benchmarking the Ryzen 5 5500U for over a year now in other laptops and has worked well. Though it is important to note that the Ryzen 5 5500U uses the older Zen 2 cores albeit still offers decent performance by today's laptop standards.

For those wondering how the performance of the Tuxedo Aura 15 Gen2 stacks up against other laptops, I ran some comparison tests of this laptop in its stock software configuration against some of the other recently benchmarked laptops at Phoronix. The laptops for comparison included the:

TUXEDO Aura 15 Gen2 - Ryzen 5 5500U with 16GB of RAM, 512GB Samsung NVMe SSD.
ASUS ROG Strix G15 - Ryzen 9 5900HX with 16GB of RAM, 512GB Samsung NVMe SSD.
Lenovo IdeaPad 3 - Ryzen 5 5500U with 8GB of RAM, 256GB Samsung NVMe SSD.
Lenovo IdeaPad 5 - Ryzen 7 4700U with 16GB of RAM, Samsung 512GB NVMe SSD.
Lenovo IdeaPad 5 - Ryzen 5 4500U with 16GB of RAM, SK Hynix 256GB NVMe SSD.
ThinkPad T14s Gen2a - Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U with 32GB of RAM, 1TB Samsung NVMe SSD.
Dell XPS 9310 - Core i7 1165G7 Tiger Lake with 16GB of RAM, Kioxia 256GB NVMe SSD.
Dell XPS 7390 - Core i7 1065G7 Ice Lake with 16GB of RAM, Toshiba 512GB NVMe SSD.
Dell XPS 9380 - Core i7 8565U Whiskey Lake with 16GB of RAM, 256GB SK Hynix PC401 NVMe SSD.

With all of these laptops the integrated graphics were used for testing on Ubuntu Linux. The selection of laptops tested was based on what I have available for testing.

Let's see where the Ryzen 5 5500U fits in today for Linux laptop performance.
