GCC 10 vs. GCC 11 Compiler Performance On The Threadripper 3990X
FFTW on the Threadripper 3990X system when built under GCC 11.1 was seeing about 5% higher performance compared to being built under GCC 10.
The MrBayes biology software was also running slightly faster when built under GCC 11.
Meanwhile for workloads like OpenFOAM, the performance was the same under both GCC 10 and GCC 11, at least for this AMD Zen 2 system.
Zstd's decompression performance seemed to improve slightly when built by GCC 11 while the compression speed was unchanged in these tests.
