ARM Cortex-A15 vs. NVIDIA Tegra 3 vs. Intel x86
Starting first up with the Dolfyn Computational Fluid Dynamics benchmark, the Exynos 5 Dual continues performing nicely just like the results last week. While the Exynos 5 Dual is only a 1.7GHz dual-core, it had no problems being over twice as fast as the quad-core (plus its fifth core) NVIDIA Tegra 3 that are clocked at 1.4GHz. ARM Holdings has stated that the A15 is 40% faster than the A9 when using the same core count and clock speeds. In terms of the Exynos 5 Dual performance against the Intel x86 hardware, that too was appealing. The Samsung ARM SoC was faster than all of the Atom processors tested. However, the Intel Core i3 330M dual-core 2.13GHz processor with Hyper Threading was sharply faster than the new Exynos SoC.
With the FFTE computational test, the Exynos 5 Dual continues to easily beat all of the Intel Atom processors. The Core i3 330M is faster, but on the performance-per-Watt this would be a very different story. The Core i3 330M has a 35 Watt TDP while the Exynos 5 Dual operates within a few Watt envelope. Unfortunately due to the varying displays and other hardware differences, an easy power consumption / performance-per-Watt comparison couldn't be done for this article.
Yep, the Samsung Exynos 5 Dual Cortex-A15 continues easily slamming the Tegra 3 and Intel Atom processors.
