First up is using the startup-time test profile to measure the time needed to launch the xterm terminal emulator from each of the storage devices while in the background carrying out a mix of sequential reads and then a combination of reads and writes. To little surprise, the Samsung 860 QVO 1TB was towards the rear of the pack considering the primary selling point of this drive is its lower cost per gigabyte. But the Samsung 860 QVO does still come out as a much more performant option than aging SATA 3.0 HDDs.

With the startup time tests for the GNOME Terminal and LibreOffice Writer, the Samsung 860 QVO is still towards the rear of the group for SSD storage but does come ahead the older/lower-end SATA 3.0 SSDs and obviously the hard drive storage.

The 860 QVO did perform surprisingly well for the basic SQLite embedded database benchmark.
