Once getting Linux running nicely on the ASUS ROG Strix G15 laptop, it certainly performs well with the fully open-source driver stack. This round of benchmarks is looking at the Ryzen 9 5900HX performance against various other Intel/AMD laptops I had available. All laptops were tested using Ubuntu 21.04 with Linux 5.13 and Mesa Git at the time. The selection of other laptops tested were limited by what I had available with most vendors not pursuing Linux coverage/reviews.

The laptops available that were used for testing consisted of Dell XPS laptops for Core i7 1065G7 Ice Lake and Core i7 1185G7 Tiger Lake on the Intel side. On the AMD side were Lenovo IdeaPad laptops with the Ryzen 5 4500U, Ryzen 7 4700U, and Ryzen 5 5500U next to this AMD ROG Strix G15 with the Ryzen 9 5900HX. All the laptops were recently re-tested using Ubuntu 21.04 with the Linux 5.13 stack.
