In some software like OSPRay the performance of the Ryzen 5 9600X can even outpace the Core i5 14600K thanks to AVX-512 with Zen 5.

I'll have a dedicated Zen 5 AVX-512 article out soon, but long story short the AVX-512 performance is looking even better with Zen 5 compared to its initial double pumped implementation with Zen 4.

For those on the likes of an aging Ryzen 9 5950X desktop, in some areas the Ryzen 7 9700X performance can match it while delivering much greater power efficiency.

In the case of the QuantLib quantitative finance software there wasn't much of a generational uplift for performance but the power efficiency was much better.

Overall though from the wide variety of workloads being tested, the Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X deliver very nice performance and power efficiency improvements over Zen 4.
