AMD Ryzen 5 9600X & Ryzen 7 9700X Offer Excellent Linux Performance

In preparing for the Ryzen 9000 series launch, I've been re-testing all my recent Intel and AMD desktop processors over the past two months. For today's Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X review embargo lift the (re)tested processors include:

- Ryzen 5 8600G
- Ryzen 7 7700
- Ryzen 7 7700X
- Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- Ryzen 7 8700G
- Ryzen 9 7900
- Ryzen 9 7900X
- Ryzen 9 7900X3D
- Ryzen 9 7950X
- Ryzen 9 7950X3D

All of these processors were tested on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with the Linux 6.10 kernel and GCC 13.2 default compiler. All motherboards were with their latest BIOS, 2TB Corsair MP700 PRO NVMe SSD, and Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics used throughout. All DDR5-capable processors were using 2 x 16GB DDR5-6000 memory while the Ryzen 5000 series was using 2 x 16GB DDR4-3600 memory.

With these 29 processors, around 400 benchmarks were run while also monitoring the CPU power consumption and performance-per-Watt. It's been a busy summer of benchmarking to say the least.
