AMD Ryzen 9 7900X / 7950X Linux Gaming Performance
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is one of the native Linux games and rendered using Vulkan. In this case surprisingly the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with its 3D V-Cache was still faster than the Zen 4 desktop CPUs.
The CPU power consumption was lower than the Ryzen 9 5950X for the 7900X/7950X but still above the Core i9 12900K with these tests from the Linux 6.0 kernel.
The i9-12900K had a narrow advantage in performance-per-Watt.
Total War: Three Kingdoms like Shadow of The Tomb Raider is another native Linux game port by Feral Interactive. In this case too the Ryzen 7 5800X3D ended up performing in front of the tested Zen 4 CPUs.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D and other select Zen 3 CPUs also delivered better power efficiency over the Zen 4 parts with their higher TDP.
