Radeon RX Vega On Linux: High-Performance GPUs & Open-Source No Longer An Oxymoron
The Deus Ex: Mankind Divided performance shows the current Mesa Git code having the RX Vega 56 run on par with the R9 Fury while the Vega 64 is between the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080.
It will be interesting to see how much further the RadeonSI and AMDGPU optimizations can further push the open-source driver performance. I have yet to test out these cards under Windows. Meanwhile, with the AMDGPU-PRO driver, the Vega cards are running around Polaris speeds with this hybrid proprietary driver.
The Dota 2 OpenGL performance with Mesa Git is known to be in a regressed state. In this case, the Vega cards are aligning with the GeForce GTX 980 Ti.
Dawn of War 3 has some crashing issues right now unrelated to the drivers. But from the GPUs that could successfully run the benchmark, the RX Vega 56 and 64 were running shy of the GeForce GTX 1080.
