Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0 Benchmarks Against RHEL 7.6, Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS, Clear Linux
Ubuntu picked up a lead on both servers with the Java-based Bork file encrypted utility.
With the Java DaCapo benchmarks, however, Ubuntu was back to being slower than the other Linux distributions while Clear Linux picked up some more victories while at least RHEL8 was running faster than RHEL7.
RHEL8 sees slightly better performance over RHEL7 with the Himeno pressure solver.
The better 7-Zip performance is likely due to the big compiler upgrade on RHEL8.
RHEL8 had a narrow victory over the other Linux distributions with the Stockfish chess benchmark.
