RadeonSI's Gallium3D Driver Performance Has Improved Massively In The Past Year
With the Metro Last Light Redux game, the performance has doubled since Mesa 11.0! That's with correct rendering too.
The open-source Tesseract game is 42% faster with Mesa 13.1-dev compared to Mesa 11.0. Since Mesa 13.0, this game is faster on RadeonSI than AMDGPU-PRO.
The Unigine Heaven performance has doubled in this time period! This also puts the RadeonSI performance now on-par with AMDGPU-PRO for this demanding OpenGL cross-platform benchmark.
The Xonotic performance is up by 48% over these Mesa versions! Since Mesa 13.0 this also puts it faster than the current AMDGPU-PRO.
Hope you found these results interesting. It's certainly amazing to see how RadeonSI Gallium3D performance has evolved since mid 2015 with Mesa 11.0! Across the board the OpenGL performance improvements were rather amazing while in the most extreme cases the performance has doubled. Especially since Mesa 13.0, in many of the OpenGL Linux games the RadeonSI performance is now comparable to AMDGPU-PRO.
The results are really great to see and will be amazing to see what other performance optimizations come to RadeonSI in 2017 now that they are almost caught-up with outstanding OpenGL extension coverage, etc.
