OCZ Agility EX 60GB SSD
From looking at these Linux results gathered from Ubuntu 9.10 running atop an EXT4 file-system, the benefits of an SLC SSD over MLC is very clear. Both the Agility and Agility EX sport 64MB of onboard cache and are similar in terms of features except for the MLC/SLC NAND storage, but this is what has led to the Agility EX being such a terrific performer. However, having a drive that performs so good will cost you. The 120GB Agility is currently retailing for around $370 USD (NewEgg, Amazon) while the OCZ Agility EX with only half the storage capacity is going for at least $400 USD (NewEgg, Amazon).
If you engage in any demanding disk-bound tasks like audio/video editing, database work, constant code compiling, file serving, or related work, the performance of the OCZ Agility EX is a terrific drive and offers a wonderful level of performance. While we did not have access to the Intel X25M to verify, it has also been reported that this drive does even outperform this flagship Intel SSD. Beyond just the performance metrics, OCZ's Agility EX is backed by their reputable three-year warranty and their leading build quality that we have become to know from OCZ Technology products.
