NVIDIA's Linux Driver Saw Some Nice Performance Gains In 2018
Here is a quick look at the 2018 NVIDIA Linux driver performance for gaming.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has always performed well on the NVIDIA OpenGL driver and this year didn't see any real changes with the cards/drivers tested.
Dawn of War III with Vulkan saw some minor performance improvements with the latest 2018 drivers. The minimum frame-rates were also much better than with the 384 driver series.
To some surprise, the several year old Metro Last Light Redux game on OpenGL even saw some performance boosts out of the 2018 NVIDIA driver updates.
Serious Sam 3 BFE and Talos Principle - both using Vulkan - saw better performance with the latest NVIDIA Linux driver.
The Tesseract open-source OpenGL-powered game saw some minor performance improvements this year on the NVIDIA front.
Overall, for both OpenGL and Vulkan performance there were some minor performance boosts to see this year when using the latest NVIDIA Linux driver, besides all of the new features and GPU support added in this year over their many driver updates.
