To not much surprise, the NVIDIA driver remains much faster than the reverse-engineered but open-source Nouveau driver. For the CPU-bound OpenArena 0.8.5 there was no changes in raw performance from the new libdrm.

OpenArena 0.8.8 is much the same story, but worth noting here are improvements between what's found in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS for Nouveau (namely the Linux 3.2 kernel and Mesa 8.0) and what's found in Git (the Linux 3.4 kernel and Mesa 8.1-devel) yield a big performance improvement for the Nouveau driver on the FX 880M graphics core (NVA5).

When running World of Padman there are finally some performance improvements to see out of the new libdrm code in Nouveau.
