The Open-Source NVIDIA "Nouveau" Linux Driver Performance At The End Of 2018
Valve's Portal game could run easily on the re-clocked Nouveau cards and the performance there with the NVC0 Gallium3D OpenGL driver isn't all that bad compared to the proprietary NVIDIA OpenGL driver.
The Tesseract open-source OpenGL game achieved a significant feat of the GTX 780 Ti running at the same speed between the drivers! THe GTX 680 wasn't that far behind the binary driver either but the newer cards were obviously extremely slow.
The several year old Tomb Raider was mostly playable with the high-end Kepler hardware.
Xonotic was another game capable of showing off the very respectable potential of the Nouveau driver stack on Kepler hardware when re-clocking works... It's just too bad the GTX 900 series and newer lack this critical functionality. But more demanding OpenGL games like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Dawn of War III were leading to hangs with Nouveau.
