Mesa 9.1-devel LLVMpipe With LLVM 3.1/3.2
With a number of commits made to the mainline Mesa repository recently that concern the LLVMpipe Gallium3D driver for pushing OpenGL onto the CPU, here are benchmarks of the very latest Mesa Gallium3D development code from and AMD FX-8350 Vishera Eight-Core CPU when using both LLVM 3.1 and LLVM 3.2 SVN.
In the past two days there has been a number of commits related to the LLVMpipe driver that offered up fixes, eliminating color buffer swizzling, and other changes. There were also commits made to Gallivm, the LLVM module for Gallium3D. With the intense interest in Mesa's Gallium3D and LLVM, some new benchmarks of this software OpenGL fallback was benchmarked today.
Besides looking at the latest performance figures for LLVMpipe due to the recent activity, the purpose of these benchmarks is to show where the LLVMpipe performance is at compared to some discrete graphics cards on Gallium3D (using the recent Nouveau benchmark results) and also seeing how well in general the LLVMpipe driver works for the "Bulldozer 2" FX-8350 CPU on LLVM 3.1 and the forthcoming LLVM 3.2. The Mesa 9.1-devel Git and LLVM 3.2 SVN code was as of 30 November.
