Radeon Gallium3D With Mesa 8.0: Goes Up & Down

The Warsow game at 1920 x 1080 continues to run very slow with the Radeon Gallium3D drivers. Even with the high-end Radeon HD 6950 graphics card on the Linux 3.2 kernel with Mesa 8.0 Gallium3D, the frame-rate was just 24 FPS... Meanwhile, the Catalyst blob allowed the same setup to run with an average frame-rate of 268 FPS.

With the VDrift racing game we see a game where the frame-rate with Mesa 8.0 is generally higher across the graphics cards than the earlier 7.11 release. However, the Radeon HD 3850 (RV670) performance had regressed and the Radeon X1800XL (R500) was unchanged. The Catalyst driver was not compared since the Mesa stack doesn't this game properly so it's frame-rates tend to be higher than the binary driver due to not rendering everything correctly.
