Intel Xe2 Lunar Lake Graphics Performance Disappoints On Linux
The RDNA3.5 graphics on the open-source AMD Linux driver was continuing to perform much better than the Lunar Lake graphics for performance and power efficiency. The Lunar Lake performance at launch was very unfortunate and clearly some driver optimizations are still missing.
Meteor Lake graphics on Linux back around launch-time were exciting especially being before the AMD RDNA3.5 graphics, but this showing of Lunar Lake at launch for the first Xe2 graphics was disappointing.
Across all the graphics workloads tested, the Xe2 graphics with the Core Ultra 7 256V Lunar Lake SoC were disappointing. The Lunar Lake graphics performance on Linux tended to be behind Meteor Lake. The CPU power consumption was lower but on a performance-per-Watt basis wasn't anything magical with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 leading with performance and power efficiency.
