Ryzen 9 7950X Performance With The New AMD P-State Default Of Linux 6.5
One of the areas where the AMD P-State driver can make a difference or that of CPU frequency scaling drivers/governors more generally is with web browser workloads. With web browser benchmarks not being as demanding as some other tasks and fluctuating more with the CPU resources utilized, the CPU frequency scaling governor can make a greater impact here.
Linux 6.5 Git on this Ryzen 9 7950X was showing some small but consistent improvements in Firefox and Chrome. The performance-per-Watt was also an improvement even with the slightly higher power draw during these browser benchmarks.
JetStream 2 as arguably the best browser benchmark right now was showing a step-up for the Ryzen 9 7950X desktop with Linux 6.5.
Whether you are using Firefox or Chrome, the performance was moving in the right direction with Linux 6.5 and the out-of-the-box performance.
The WebAssembly browser benchmarks were also showing some improvements with using this soon-to-be-released kernel.
