Linux 5.4 EXT4 / XFS / Btrfs RAID Performance On Four HDDs
For measuring the performance while having background reads/writes, Btrfs was performing the best in RAID0 and RAID10 modes while in RAID1 it performed the worst with EXT4 and XFS nearly tied. When it came to these HDD tests without RAID, EXT4 was performing the best.
Or in the time for launching LibreOffice with the same background reads/writes, Btrfs continued to perform poorly in RAID1 while outside of RAID, XFS was now the fastest off these Seagate NAS drives.
When running SQLite on these different setups, EXT4 performed very poorly (and strangely) in the RAID10/RAID1 modes in being significantly slower while XFS tended to perform the best for this particular test.
