Linux 5.16 Graphics Performance In Great Shape For AMD Ryzen APUs
Even the "simple" glmark2 benchmark was seeing healthy gains out of the Radeon integrated graphics on Linux 5.16.
Basemark was seeing some smaller gains out of Linux 5.16 but still healthy overall for this new kernel version.
Here is the geometric mean of all the graphics benchmarks carried out in full across this diverse range of AMD Ryzen hardware with integrated Radeon graphics. The high-end Ryzen 9 5900HX and Ryzen 7 5700G gains out of simply moving to Linux 5.16 were massive but even with the prior generation Ryzen hardware too are healthy gains all from this new version of the Linux kernel debuting this evening.
This is a nice addition to kick off 2022 on top of all the other Linux 5.16 features. But already we are eager for some of the changes coming to Linux 5.17 -- including AMD P-State -- so stay tuned for my benchmarks there beginning soon. And, again, consider going premium if enjoying all of this testing.
