When carrying out various I/O benchmarks, the results were fairly flat... In some of these disk benchmarks, the tuned kernel builds yielded slight performance benefits particularly on the Core i7 8086K and Threadripper 2990WX, but it wasn't anything huge and there were also cases of slight slowdowns in performance.

The Sockperf throughput benchmark was one of the cases where the tuned kernel configuration did measurably help on all but the Skylake AVX-512 system. But at least for three of the four systems there was a measurable rise in performance.

Sockperf's latency was also slightly lower though hard to call any clear wins unlike the throughput test.
