First up is the classic OpenArena test.

The HD 6870 performance on the latest open-source code came very close to Catalyst -- 84% the speed of the binary blob. The R7 370 also did well at roughly the same margin, but the higher-end R9 290 meanwhile came in at just 66% the speed of Catalyst for this basic OpenGL 2 game.

With the Tesseract first person shooter the HD 6870 and R7 370 performance nearly matched Catalyst! It's great with Mesa 11.1-devel + LLVM 3.8 SVN + DRI3 + Linux 4.4... But the Radeon R9 290 still saw a considerable difference in performance.

Unigine Valley hit a similar case like the earlier Nouveau tests where the reported frame-rate on the open-source driver was higher, but the visual quality did not match Catalyst. The Radeon R7 370 was unstable on Catalyst for this test.
