Redis was one of the workloads affected a lot by the KPTI/Retpoline code landing. With Linux 4.16, the Core i9 7980XE high-end system saw some small performance improvements but the other systems were largely in line with their Linux 4.15.2 kernel performance.

Stress-NG saw several performance drops during the KPTI and Retpoline landing during the 4.15 cycle, but not much churn for Linux 4.16.

With the synthetic kernel tests from Stress-NG, the numbers with Linux 4.16 are largely flat compared to Linux 4.15 with the sole exception of the Ryzen 7 1800X seeing a nice improvement in system V message passing.
