Linux 4.11 File-System Tests: EXT4, F2FS, XFS & Btrfs
With CompileBench, XFS and F2FS appear to be slightly faster under Linux 4.11. F2FS was the fastest on Linux 4.11 followed by EXT4, XFS, and then Btrfs in a distant last place.
With a PostgreSQL database benchmark run, XFS appears to be the fastest on Linux 4.11 with this TR-150 Toshiba consumer SSD followed by EXT4 and F2FS. Btrfs does appear to regress on Linux 4.11 with this benchmark.
Hopefully you found these latest Linux 4.11 file-system/disk benchmarks interesting. I have more numbers coming up shortly for some different disk setups and hardware along with testing the likes of ZFS, RAID, etc with this newest kernel version.
