The x264 video encode performance is trending slightly lower since Linux 4.12.

The Java DaCapo benchmark with the H2 test has also grown gradually slower since Linux 4.12.

Redis, meanwhile, marked a stage of improving performance since Linux 4.12 although some of the newer kernels have slowed down a bit with this being one of the workloads affected by some of the Spectre/Meltdown mitigations.

Zstandard compression meanwhile has been slower since Linux 4.13.

The Nginx web server performance has been lower since Linux 4.15, due to Spectre/Meltdown protection.

Likewise, Apache HTTPD is also slower since Linux 4.15.
