Linux 4.0 SSD EXT4 / Btrfs / XFS / F2FS Benchmarks
The FS-Mark continues to show the Linux 4.0 kernel running measurably faster for the Btrfs and F2FS file-systems.
The Linux 4.0 gains for Btrfs and F2FS were also found with CompileBench and PostMark.
From this SSD testing on Linux 4.0, it seems Btrfs and F2FS do indeed have some performance improvements to find with this new kernel -- at least with solid-state storage and using the default mount options. I'll be pursuing some more Linux 4.0 SSD tests in the days ahead to see how widespread these performance improvements are while the EXT4 and XFS performance on this new kernel seems to be flat for our commonly-run open-source disk benchmarks.
