Intel Linux OpenGL Driver Remains Slower Than Windows
The Intel OpenGL performance for the Warsow game is much slower on Linux than Windows. Something different in this case is that running the open-source game with the KDE desktop is actually slower than Unity.
Running the popular Xonotic game with low-quality settings leads to frame-rates on Linux that are more competitive to Windows on Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge hardware than when using the higher quality settings. For the Intel HD 4000 graphics with high quality settings at a meager resolution of 1280 x 1024, the results were just about sufficient at above 60 FPS (~72 FPS average) but the HD 3000 graphics in the same situation were sub-60 FPS.
