Kicking things off for this latest round of Windows vs. Linux OpenGL benchmarking begins with Lightsmark. Windows 7 was delivering the fastest OpenGL performance, but the Ubuntu 12.10 KDE results came in close behind Microsoft. Meanwhile the default Ubuntu 12.10 desktop with Unity/Compiz remained noticeably slower than with the KDE desktop.

Nexuiz was significantly slower on Linux with both desktop environments -- about half the speed of Windows 7 with Intel's binary driver.
