All three processors were tested with the same system software/hardware with just switching out the LGA-2011 v3 CPUs between tests. The system was based around the MSI X99S SLI PLUS motherboard, 16GB (4 x 4GB DDR4-2133MHz Corsair) memory, 80GB Intel SSD 530 Series, GeForce GT 740 graphics card, and the Noctua i4 CPU Cooler.

On the software side was Fedora 21 64-bit in its current development state with the Linux 3.18-rc3 kernel, Mesa 10.3.2, GCC 4.9.2, and an EXT4 file-system. All of the server benchmarks in this article were carried out by the open-source Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software.

Beyond looking at the raw CPU performance there's also some CPU thermal performance numbers, system power consumption, and power efficiency numbers for these three LGA-2011 v3 CPUs on the MSI X99S SLI PLUS motherboard. Thanks again to MSI for supplying the X99 motherboard and CPU review samples.
