The Good & Bad For LLVMpipe With Intel's GLSL2 Compiler

When running the OpenArena game at 800 x 600 on this ThinkPad W510 with its Intel Core i7 720QM processor, the frame-rate was just 15 FPS, which is unplayable and this is one of the least demanding OpenGL games available for Linux. Intel's GLSL2 compiler seemed to have no impact on OpenArena with the overall performance when it comes to the frame-rates.

When increasing the resolution from 800 x 600 to 1600 x 900 (the panel's native resolution), the frame-rate dropped from 15 FPS to just 7 FPS, but again its performance was not affected by the new OpenGL shader compiler.

Running the Tremulous game resulted in a surprisingly high frame-rate for LLVMpipe on this Intel octal-core CPU. However, as you can see, there is a rather significant regression when running LLVMpipe with Intel's new GLSL compiler. The frame-rate with Tremulous lost about 30% of its speed when under the new Intel-developed compiler.
