Parallel BZIP2 is another compression test that can take advantage of all available CPU cores and as such, the Core i7 990X Extreme Edition is nearly twice as fast.

While the Bullet Physics Engine is multi-threaded, the Core i5 2500K pulls a small win over the Core i7 990X with the 3000 Fall physics demo.

C-Ray is one of the best multi-threaded ray-tracing benchmarks for Linux. With this test, the six-core Gulftowns are well ahead of the Core i5 2500K, but the perhaps between the Core i7 970 and Core i7 990X were neck-and-neck.
