Intel Core i7 4960X Linux Performance
John The Ripper's cryptographic workload tends to do well on AMD's recent architectures, but like HMMer, the Core i7 4960X was able to deliver smashing results. The Core i7 4960X was 11% faster than the previous-generation i7-3960X at stock speeds or 29% better results when overclocked to 4.3GHz. The i7-4960X Ivy Bridge E was also 35% faster than the stock Core i7 4770K Haswell.
The AMD FX-8350 managed to secure a win against Intel when it came to the traditional DES workload in John The Ripper, but the 4960X wasn't far behind.
The CPU-based TTSIOD 3D Renderer tends to be a rather interesting workload and the 4960X was actually a bit slower than the 3960X when running at stock speeds, but overclocking the Ivy Bridge EE sent it over the edge.
