BYTE Unix Benchmark performed roughly the same under both free software operating systems when it came to the Dhrystone 2 performance.

Using Sudokut to simulate the Suoku solving performance, Ubuntu 9.04 was over twice as fast as OpenSolaris 2009.06.

The Java stack found in OpenSolaris 2009.06 did much better than the IcedTea implementation in Ubuntu 9.04 when it came to the Sunflow Rendering System performance.
