Next up is looking at the Linux gaming performance of Rocket Lake compared to Comet Lake and AMD's Zen3-based Ryzen 5000 series processors. The gaming tests were carried out with the Radeon RX 6800 XT on the Linux 5.12 + Mesa 21.1-devel driver stack.

For some of the lightest open-source, OpenGL games, going from Comet Lake to Rocket Lake was able to bump the performance in favor of the new Intel CPUs instead of the Ryzen 5000 series. Granted, these titles are already running at hundreds of frames per second.

Or in the case of Portal 2 with OpenGL, the Rocket Lake processors allowed Intel to extend their lead.

With Portal 2's new Vulkan renderer path on Linux, the performance was unchanged from Comet Lake.

When running various Linux native and Steam Play titles on Linux with the open-source friendly Radeon RX 6800 XT, the i5-11600K / i9-11900K were performing better than their predecessors for light 1080p gaming but still behind the top-end AMD Zen 3 processors.
