With the MAFFT molecular biology benchmark, Clear Linux pulled out ahead of the five other Linux distributions.

When running Numpy for scientific computing in Python, Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS pulled out a slight lead over Clear Linux while the newer Ubuntu 19.04 beta regresses the performance slightly.

Intel's Streaming Video Technology video encoders didn't build on all of the Linux distributions due to some build issues, but for where it did Clear Linux offered significantly better CPU-based video encode performance for SVT-VP9 and SVT-HEVC with these new open-source video encoder programs.

For x265 as well with Clear's out-of-the-box tuning, it offered nearly double the x265 performance as did Ubuntu/Debian out-of-the-box.

Clear Linux pulled out slightly ahead of the other Linux distributions for the 7-Zip compression performance.

Meanwhile the Stockfish C++ chess benchmark performed the best on CentOS 7 with its older compiler stack.
